About the CCI Capital Chapter

CCI Graduate Teams, CCI Puppy Raisers and CCI Volunteers and Supporters in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, Northern Virginia and Eastern West Virginia areas belong to the Capital Chapter.  Our mission is to raise awareness of the CCI mission, to raise puppies and to raise funds for CCI.
Puppy raisers and graduate teams have opportunities to increase awareness and educate the public each time they step out with their fuzzy friends dressed in the telltail gold and blue! Our volunteers provide formal and informal presentations in many settings including schools, civic organizations and the workplace.

We also staff public awareness events in the community.  We were recently involved in filming a program about CCI for a local cable station.  Our graduate teams and puppy raisers have had articles published about them in local newspapers, and we have had a series produced for the local ABC affiliate.  An important part of our mission is raising awareness of CCI. If you would like a presentation for your organization click here.

Puppy raisers with their puppies are seen throughout the metropolitan area -- at the workplace, in restaurants, in movie theaters, in shopping malls and on the Metro.  Many puppy raisers take their puppies to work with them, although puppy raising does not require this.  A puppy raiser is primarily responsible for teaching basic obedience and for socializing the puppy in preparation for a life of service.  See how you too can become a puppy raiser!

CCI is a nonprofit organization that receives no government funding.  CCI provides assistance dogs at no charge to recipients and is dependent on the generous nature of our contributors to "stand on our own four feet."  CCI is listed as a charity in the Combined Federal Campaign and receives the majority of its funds through individual and corporate support.  The Capital Chapter is proud of its fundraising efforts including a $50,000 contribution for CCI through its presence at the Washington International Horse Show!  See how you too can help with this wonderful cause.
